Ārya Tārā by Kichaa exemplifies the artist’s mastery of traditional Paubha painting through its intricate iconography and balanced composition. At the top, Buddha Amitābha—symbolizing the fire element—is depicted with his vehicle, the peacock, realistically rendered using traditional mineral pigments. The pair is surrounded by flowing clouds and a blazing sun, enhancing the illusion of levitation and elemental symbolism.
The central figure, Ārya Tārā, sits gracefully on a lotus throne, framed by an ornate Mha Parba and a radiant Chhyon Parba halo. The halo includes the protective Chhepu motif—a fierce face with hands gripping serpents—drawing focus to the deity.
In the lower right, Khadga Pāṇi appears amidst stylized flames, balancing the curling water patterns from which Tārā’s lotus pedestal emerges. The interplay of fire and water reflects Kichaa’s skill in uniting visual harmony with spiritual symbolism.
