    Kichaa Man Chitrakar

Born in 1986 in Kathmandu, Nepal, Kichaa is a contemporary artist rooted in the ancient tradition of Paubha painting—an intricate and sacred art form dating back to the 11th century. As part of the Chitrakar family, long regarded as guardians of religious art in Nepal, he was immersed in this practice from an early age, receiving intensive training passed down through generations.

Kichaa’s work is known for its fine detail, spiritual depth, and complex iconography. Using traditional materials like hand-prepared cotton canvas and natural mineral pigments, he creates vivid, meditative scenes filled with symbolic meaning and divine figures.

While honoring his heritage, Kichaa continues to evolve the tradition. Alongside classical Paubha works, he now explores contemporary acrylic paintings—reimagining traditional subjects in bold, modern styles. These new pieces expand the reach of sacred art, making it resonate with today’s audiences.

Celebrated in Nepal and abroad, Kichaa’s paintings bridge past and present, preserving the soul of Paubha while opening new paths for its future.
